Action, adventure and a few aliens.

2. Chosen by Ally Condie
Reminiscent of 1984 and a girl's struggle to overcome a domineering society.

3. Firelight by Sophie Jordan

4.  The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
A futuristic society that domineers over its people

Halloween Decorations

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

I've been thinking about putting my Halloween decorations out, but is it too early? It's not even October yet. I enjoy seeing the decorations in the stores with the scary witches, spider webs and jack o'lanterns! Fall is a fun time of year. "Woman's Day" also has some great craft ideas available on their website and magazine. Check it out here.

It's Fall

Saturday, September 17, 2011

from http://www.freedigitalphotos.net
The fall season ends summer with coolish weather and fall leaves of orange, red and yellow hues. Just because it's not summer doesn't mean you can't have fun! Here's some great fall type activities to do:

1. Pick your own apples at a farm: Picking your own apples can be fun. It sometimes can be cheaper than the grocery store and can taste even better!
2. Hay rides: Hay rides can be lots of fun with your family or group of friends.
3. Pick your own pumpkin: Go to a pumpkin patch and pick out a fall pumpkin. Pumpkins are great for decorations, jack lanterns, pies, cheesecake, muffins, and more.
4. Corn mazes: Corn mazes can be a fun and enjoyable!
5. Jumping into a pile of leaves: Rake 'em up and jump away.
6. Make your own candied or caramel apples: Cheaper than buying them at the store and fun to make.
7. Tour a haunted house or museum.
8. Fall festivals: Attend community fall festivals and enjoy some different foods and activities.
9. Leaf crafts: Find a colorful leaf and press it for a picture, or brush paint on it and use it like a stamp.
10. Fall cleaning: Who says you only can do major cleaning in the spring? Prep up your home, by going through items that can be donated to goodwill, sold on craig's list, recycled or thrown away.

Finally Got My Sequel

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies)As soon as the Power of Six hit the bookstores, I requested it at the library. It was well worth the wait. The author carries sets the stage well for his story. There are hidden surprises and things mentioned in I am Number Four that comes to light in the Power of Six. It has a lot of action, and is a quick fast read.
