Things to Do in Boise: Camel's Back Park

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

I decided to venture out with my son and try a new park and playground. We went and visited Camel's Back Park. Camel's Back Park is North of Downtown Boise. The traffic pattern was a little weird in some spots going and coming to the park. The park contains a huge field for throwing frisbees, football and/or lounging about with a good book. The playground was a good size. There were numerous "tunnels" for a 17 month year old to climb up, swings and slides. The slides were moderate height - not too steep.  Camel's Back Park also has access to the Foothills with several
trails. The trails looked steep, sandy and a little rough. I wasn't sure about taking my little one on it although I did see some parents with their kids walking around on them.

Camel's Back Park is located at 1200 W Heron St. Boise, ID.

Snow Canyon State Park

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

My husband had a Spring Convention to attend in St. George and my son and I tagged along. While we were in St. George, we went and visited Snow Canyon State Park. The views of the rocks were amazing. We walked along an easy trail and found a spot for my son to play in the white sand. He loved it. While hiking, we saw a couple of lizards either crossing the path or sun bathing. Snow Canyon would be a great place for picnicking, camping, hiking and more!

If you go to Snow Canyon, I would suggest bringing:
  • A Camera to take pictures
  • Water
  • Pail and Shovel to dig in Sand
  • Cash ($6 per vehicle entry fee)
  • Sunscreen
  • Hiking Snacks
  • Bug Spray
  • Proper Hiking Clothes and Shoes

Getting Ready for Easter

Monday, March 30, 2015

We subscribe to the magazine, The Friend, published by our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In the March issue, they had this cute insert with a scripture to read each day the week of Easter and a picture from the New Testament. I glued the insert on to cardboard, placed clear contact paper on it, and added stick-on velcro to attach/reattach the pictures so I could use it year after year. To make your own, you can find the insert by clicking here.

General Conference Board

Monday, March 30, 2015

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormons). Twice a year, we gather to hear messages from the Prophet and Apostles. To make it more fun for my son, I decided to make a General Conference Board that I found on "A Day in My Life" blog. I bought a smaller board so I had to make adjustments - condensing the pockets and putting the topics in a pocket. Since I made the adjustments, there was more room. I added a picture of Christ found on and made it into a velcro puzzle. I also added a place for my son to add "hearts" as he felt the spirit.

$10 Gift Card with a $50 Grocery Purchase at Target

Monday, March 30, 2015

If you get the Target's Ad with the Sunday Newspaper, you may notice a coupon for a $10 gift card with a $50 grocery purchase. If you don't get the Sunday Newspaper, you can ask for it at Target's Customer Service Desk. I used the coupon today along with my Target cartwheel (getting 5% off most of my items), manufacturer's coupons and Target coupons from their website. You can find Target coupons here and Target Cartwheel here. I priced everything out using Target's website and ad. I priced everything to about $50. With deals like this, I like to make sure to get items that will restock my pantry and that we use on a regular basis. I also go early in the week, if you wait too long most things will be gone!

I always hand the cashier my coupon for the gift card first and then my other coupons. Whenever, Target has deals like this I save my gift cards for promotions where if you buy something you get a gift card back. I had $35 in gift cards from the previous week making my total purchase around $5 out of pocket and received a $10 gift card.

Tracy Aviary Review

Friday, March 27, 2015

I won free passes to Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake City, Utah from Utah Adventure Giveaway. We decided to go and check it out. I am not sure how many Utahans know about it. My husband thought it was an hour or two from Salt Lake City and he's from that area! The Tracy Aviary is amazing! My
whole family loved it. My son (16 months) loved the birds that roamed freely, feeding the ducks and their lawn chairs that they have out for people. There wasn't very many people there, so we let him walk around and he loved it. He was so fascinated by the birds that were within eye level. If the birds were higher up, he didn't have any interest. The Tracy Aviary has so many different birds. The peacocks and a few others roamed freely. I've never seen so many birds in my life. Each of the birds had their own personality and style - we saw one bird "playing" with a Barbie car.
If you plan on going to the Tracy Aviary I would recommend bringing:
  • A Camera to take pictures
  • Quarters to Feed the Ducks
  • Water Bottles for Drinking (especially if it's hot out)
  • Sunscreen
The Tracy Aviary is affordable too. The admission for Adults is $7, kids 3-12 $5 and under 2 is free. I think 2-3 hours is a good time frame to look around (less or more depending on your pace).

Pura d’or Review

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Pura d'or sent me their Premium Organic Argan Oil Scalp and Dandruff Shampoo and the Pure and Organic Argan Oil to test and review.

Pura d’or Premium Organic Argan Oil Scalp and Dandruff Shampoo helps control scaling, flaking and itching while soothing your scalp and moisturizing your hair. This product is all-natural and paraben, sulfate and gluten free. I have trouble with some dandruff shampoos actually working and/or causing further irritation. This product didn’t cause me any problems. Pura d'or Premium Organic Argan Oil Shampoo left my hair feeling soft and didn’t aggravate my scalp or my skin.

The Organic Argan Oil is amazing on Eczema. It softens your skin and helps smooth out any roughness. I’ve used it for two days and my Eczema is fading. The Organic Argan Oil can also diminish wrinkles, reduce scarring, reduce stretch marks, and restore skin nutrients.
