Shower Curtains

I used to get vinyl shower curtain liners for my bathroom, but they were hard to clean and easily got moldy. When we stayed at a hotel a few months ago, I noticed that they had a fabric shower curtain liner. I quickly switched to fabric shower curtain liners, which can easily be thrown in the washer and dryer. Fabric shower curtains eliminate soaking vinyl curtains in bleach, wiping them off and then hanging up a wet curtain.

Handling Dishes

My husband's parents rinse all of the dishes and prep them for the dishwasher even if the dishwasher is full or already running. The dishes get neatly stacked on the counter. I've starting doing the same thing and found that's it's easier to get to the sink when it's not piled high with dishes, dishes are easier to clean if you rinse them right away, and it makes loading the dishwasher easier. I've picked all of them: memory, speed, flexibility, attention and problem solving. It might seem silly, but it seems like I am improving in some areas.

Reusing Sponges

Oftentimes my sponges (with the scrubber tops) get gross pretty quickly from doing the dishes and it gets costly to keep throwing them out and getting new ones, so I've been recleaning them for reuse. I rinse them out and then place them on the top rack of the dishwasher. After running them through the dishwasher, most of the time, they come out looking like a brand new sponge. The sponges will stay pretty damp from the dishwasher, but if you leave it out, it can dry out. I've also placed them in the clothes washer and dryer before.

My husband and I usually both print out a coupon and then go to Panda Express and order separately. If it's something I can't eat, I usually give him my serving too. It's a great way to get free food and try something new.

How to Find Things to Do

Oftentimes, it's hard to get out of a rut and try something new and different. This past weekend, my husband and I branched out and went kayaking in the lake by downtown Austin. That was the first time we went and it was a lot of fun and great exercise. We saw hurons, ducks and other birds swimming in the water.It was also neat to see the skyscrapers by the lake. The cost for kayaking was quite reasonable too. We went through Groupon and got a voucher for up to 54% off and if you you go to ebates first, you can earn 3% back on your groupon purchases. Groupons offers a cheap and inexpensive ways to have fun and try something new.
