GetOutPass Idaho with JumpTime Meridian

Tuesday, June 25, 2019

We utilized our GetOutPass Idaho at Jump Time in Meridian, Idaho. I was a little nervous about going to JumpTime in Meridian. We went last year and I had a rough time handling two kids who wanted to do different things while pregnant. This time it was less crowded and my kids were more comfortable exploring, going on the inflatables and the balance beams. With the GetOutPass you get 30 minutes of playtime at Jump Time. The inflatables are fun and I like doing it indoors at Jump Time rather than at an event. It's less crowded and crazy. The trampolines were also fun for my kids. They spent a lot of time on the balance beams. It was a fun time. They also have several chairs for parents to sit and watch. One of the workers asked me if the GetOutPass was worth it and I told him it was. You get to do so many activities and explore different venues around Idaho. I like the variety and how we get to do new and different things.

GetOutPass Idaho is normally $99.95 per person. By using the special discount code,“IDAHO40," you can get $50 off the cost per person from June 28th to July 4th making the passes $49.95. With access to the following venues this pass can result in great savings and allows you to get out and do fun things at a low cost especially when compared to normal admission prices. If you want to go out more and save more, check out GetOutPass Idaho!

GetOutPass Idaho is a paid membership to get access to multiple venues multiple times per year. Venues include:
  • Miracle & Banbury Hot Springs (Quarterly)

Summer Fun with Urban Air Adventure Park

Monday, June 24, 2019

Are you looking for summer fun activities for the whole family? You should check out Urban Air Adventure Park in Meridian, Idaho. We went there as a family and my 5-year old son said it was "blazing fun" and "The best time I've ever had." My 3-year old daughter said, "The trampolines where fun." My husband and I enjoyed it as well. There were so many fun activities to do there! Attractions include:
  • Sky Rider Coaster
  • Laser Tag
  • Mini-Golf
  • Adventure Hub
  • Climbing Walls
  • Ropes Course
  • Warrior Course
  • Battle Beam
  • Tubes Playground
  • Dodge Ball
  • Runway (Tumble Track)
  • Slam Dunk Zone
  • Apex Trampolines for kids under 7
  • Apex Trampolines
  • ProZone Performance Trampolines
My kids' favorites were The Warrior Course, Tubes Playground, Drop Zone and Trampoline. My favorites were the trampolines and The Warrior Course. Urban Air Adventure Park was fun for the whole family and a place where we can all be active together. Everyone had so much fun and we were all entertained! Everyone ran, jump, laughed, climbed and more. I liked that we were all able to be active and entertained at the same time.

There are several experiences that you can choose from:
  • Ultimate: Laser Tag, Mini Golf, Sky Rider, Climbing Walls, Ropes Course, Warrior Course, Battle Beam, Tubes Playground and Trampolines
  • Deluxe: Warrior Course, Battle Beam, Tubes Playground, Trampolines
  • Basic: Trampolines only
  • 5 & Under Pass
  • Parent Pass
Urban Air Adventure Park also has several birthday packages available, which I think would make entertaining a group of kids a little easier. For $25 off a birthday package, click here. They have several monthly membership options starting as low as $7.49 a month. To learn more about the membership options, click here.

Overall, it was a good experience. I would suggest reviewing the website before going and planning out your activities in advance. Some of our time when we got there was wasted figuring out what we wanted to experience first. My kids had their favorites and wanted to do those over and over again. It was hard to steer them into something new and different. There was something for everyone. To learn more about Urban Air Adventure Park, click here.

Please note that my family received free passes to help facilitate this review, however, this did not influence my opinion.

Wrong Place, Wrong Time Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

The first idyllic hours of Greg and Marena Walker’s Caribbean vacation are filled with turquoise water, sand as soft and white as powdered sugar, and gentle ocean breezes. But all too soon the Walkers find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now they are running for their lives...Scott Vaughn has made a lucrative career of secretly transporting illegal materials. Pay him enough, and he’ll move whatever you want from anywhere to anywhere. And though he has never met the Walkers, he needs them dead. His future depends on making certain they don’t have one. Wayne Hovey desperately wants Scott Vaughn—alive is best; dead is acceptable. And luck has handed him the perfect bait: Greg and Marena Walker. In a heart-pounding game of cat and mouse, each player is driven to succeed, never realizing they are all pawns in something much larger—and more dangerous—than any of them knows.

Author's Autobiography:
I grew up on the west side of Salt Lake City in a pretty typical family. My dad worked most of his life
in a factory, my mom was a homemaker and my three sisters were...sisters! The two older ones were always bossing me around and I always had to give in to my younger sister.(They may not remember it exactly like that, but it's true--really!) A mom and three sisters means a lot of estrogen in a house, so during my preteen years my dad and I would escape whenever we could to the quiet of the mountains and deserts of Utah pursuing my dad's favorite hobby--rock-hounding. Saturday's meant traipsing over desolate ground and blasting old cans full of holes with a .22 rifle.

My early teen years were filled with pimples and the clumsy awkwardness of getting to know girls and for the most part, those are years to be forgotten. It was during my high school years that two great things happened in my life. First, I discovered airplanes and boats--two things I thoroughly enjoy to this day. But second, and by far the most important and best thing that's every happened to me, was I met my wife, Debbie. (That's a picture of her over on the right.) I met her in a geometry class. The teacher sat us alphabetically and I ended up in the desk behind her. Had there still been ink wells in the desks, I'm sure I would have dipped the tips of her long dark hair in the ink in an effort to attract her attention. With no ink I had to satisfy myself with untying the bows made from ribbons that she used to tie back her hair. I succeeded in getting her attention, and ultimately convincing her to marry me, but not for several more years.

After high school there was a year of college (University of Utah) and then two years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Returning from my missionary responsibilities I shocked everyone--including myself--by being accepted to Brigham Young University. And that's when I first discovered writing. I had no idea what I wanted to be when I "grew up," but the fiancée of one of Debbie's roommates was majoring in public relations. I had no idea what that was, but it sounded fun so from then on I told everyone I was a public relations major. I thought it would be a bunch of back slapping and socializing. Little did I know that English and writing are at the heart of public relations. And the rest, as they say, is history. I ultimately got an Associate degree in public relations and a Bachelor degree in creative writing.

Review
Wrong Place, Wrong Time started off slow for me at first but as the action and suspense started unfolding I was hooked as a reader. The story has several moments where characters were either in the wrong place at the wrong time or the right place at just the right time. It was an action packed and suspenseful read. The descriptions were well-written and I could easily visualize the scenes and characters. It's well worth a read. To learn more about Wrong Place, Wrong Time, click here.

Transportation Preschool Activities

Thursday, June 13, 2019

We worked on learning about transportation and it was fun. I think kids learn better if it's fun and entertaining. We made a "parking lot" and played a game from More Than Counting where we worked on our math skills. You can see how to play this game in the book preview on Amazon. The kids loved this game and we added our own variations to make it last a little longer.

We also worked on a few preschool printables to help with writing. I don't remember where I found this exact printable, but there's a free printable packet at Royal Baloo, check it out here.

We gathered all our cars/transportation toys and my kids took turns sorting them by color. After we sorted the cars by color we estimated which color had the most and least. We confirmed our guesses by counting the cars.

What fun preschool transportation activities do you like to do?

Love in Disguise Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Marion Watt is set to embark on her first London Season, and her parents have spared no expense to help her secure a suitable husband. Unlike most of the social-climbing women in her position, Marion has no desire to marry hastily or for anything less than love. But when she learns of her mother's declining health, she knows she must keep an open mind and allow herself to be courted. What she does not anticipate, however, is that the attentions of the insufferable Lord William Everton will be placed squarely on her. He might be the most sought-after bachelor of the Season, but she sees in him nothing but a frivolous cad.

Until William inherits his father's title and seat in parliament, he must rely on his own devices to change the world. Dressing like a ridiculous dandy serves its purposes, but he is certain his newest disguise will help him find a wife to please his parents and further his own agenda. From among the glittering group of debutantes, William finds only one woman who passes his test. Unfortunately, the perfect choice is the only woman in all of London who despises him.

Love in Disguise was a fun, clever read. It was hard to put down. The characters were interesting and there were several unexpected twists and turns in the story. I felt like Marion and William were a little slow at times in understanding each other and I wish that it was drawn out so much, but otherwise the story moved rather quickly. I would have liked more explanations on some of the minor characters. It would be interesting to learn their backgrounds and how William came to know them. It would be interesting to read a prequel to this story. I think most readers that like regency novels would enjoy this story. It's a clean romance. To learn more about Love in Disguise, click here.

Book Tour Grand Finale for Claiming the Drakos Heir

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Claiming the Drakos Heir
By Jennifer Faye

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Note from the Author

Hi. :-) Thank you for joining me with the launch for the second book in the Greek Island Brides trilogy ~ CLAIMING THE DRAKOS HEIR.

When a freak accident kills Popi’s adopted sister and brother-in-law, she is left carrying her sister’s baby. Agreeing to be a surrogate had been a big decision for Popi and one she hadn’t taken lightly. And now that her sister is gone, it is up to Popi to step up and raise the child of her heart. . .

Her life was about to change in so many ways, as the baby was due in a couple of weeks. Not long at all—

Knock-knock. Knock-knock.

So much for ignoring them.

“Anyone home?” A male voice called out through the open window.

Who could that be?

Popi wasn’t expecting anyone. Everyone she knew was getting ready for the wedding. And then the thought of something going wrong with the wedding had her rushing out of the bathroom in her fluffy, short pink robe that barely fit over her baby bump and with a large portion of her hair pulled up in a big orange clip.

"I give Claiming the Drakos Heir a well deserved five plus stars and I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy sweet and romantic books with beautiful settings. I can not wait to find out what happens next in the third addition to the Greek Island Brides series."

What just happened?

Apollo Drakos stood slack-jawed as the woman sashayed down the hallway, but to be honest her sashay was more like a waddle. A cute waddle, but still a waddle all the same.

How could she still be pregnant?

His attorney had assured him the baby was born, though no one had been able to tell him if it was a boy or girl. Not that it mattered to him. Either way, he was still claiming his niece or nephew.

". . . the novel does have a few emotional rollercoasters, especially when dealing with a custody battle of a young child. I enjoyed reading and finding out the backstory of each character especially the mysterious Apollo. A definite must-read for anyone who loves romance novels."

E-Romance News - Excerpt

Popi was the maid of honor, or koumbara, and it was her responsibility to see that the bride was ready on time. The rest of the bridal party soon showed up, including Lea’s assistant and her soon to be sister-in-law, Stasia. Because an odd number of attendants was good luck. And three attendants were the best.

Together they worked until Lea was all done up with her long hair pulled up with just a few strategically placed curly wisps of hair softening her face. A wreath of fresh flowers was clipped into place.

Popi stepped back and took in Lea’s dress. It was truly breathtaking. White tiers of Chantilly lace, tulle and ribbons adorned her. There was a V-shaped neckline with delicate straps over her shoulders and satin ribbon wrapped around her waist. She truly looked like a Greek goddess.

"I absolutely adored this novel! This is my first book by Jennifer Faye, and it most definitely will not be my last! I was hooked from page one, and taken on a whirl wind ride following these amazingly chiseled characters to the end."

He didn’t want to be here.

But on this small island, places to wait for Popi were limited. And the wedding appeared to be taking place in a common area of the village.

Apollo found himself standing off to the side. No one seemed to make a big deal of him being there. They acted as though he was just another wedding guest. Some even shook his hand and greeted him.

Up until now, Apollo had done nothing but make one mistake after the next since the day he was born. He thought he’d have time to fix things—to change his ways. After all, he was young. There was plenty of time to make up for the past, but then suddenly out of nowhere he’d been blindsided when time had run out for Nile and his wife, Andrina. And now he owed it to his brother not to mess things up where the baby was concerned.

It was then that Popi approached him. And by her stiff posture, he was certain she was not happy about him crashing this wedding. Maybe this hadn’t been such a great idea after all, but he was there now so he might as well stay and get this over with.

He was propped against a tall white column. He didn’t move, as Popi was headed straight for him. “What are you doing here?” Her gaze narrowed. “You aren’t part of the moving crew, are you?”

“Never said I was.”

“But you let me believe you were.”

“As I recall, you were in too much of a hurry to get the details.”

"Claiming the Drakos Heir by Jennifer Faye is so much more than what I thought it was going to be and I’m so honored to be a part of this book blog tour. Ms. Faye has taken us on a journey in this book. I have always wanted to go to Greece, and now I feel like I have just by visiting Infinity Island and a little bit of Athens that we have seen in the book. Apollo, Popi, and their bundle of joy seem like they will be good together, and I hope that they do. I love a happy ending.

I am giving it a five-star rating and recommending it to all romance readers out there."

Harlie's Books - Excerpt & Review

“Can I cut in?” The stranger wore a serious expression.

Roberto, looking caught off guard, stopped dancing. “Um…” His gaze moved to her and she nodded. “Thank you for the dance.” Roberto turned back to the other man. “She’s all yours.”

The man took Popi in his quite capable arms, but there was no escaping their closeness with her protruding abdomen. No one had long enough arms to allow for much room between them—not even this man.

“What are you doing?” Her voice came out in a heated whisper.

“Dancing. With you.” He led her around the dance floor.

"What sets this book apart from the pack is the emotional connection that I felt for both Popi and Apollo from the start. . . . While this is on the sweet side, the romantic build up is well done. The chemistry is palpable and emotional. . . . this is a great addition to the Greek Island Brides trilogy."

"I loved the setting of the Greek Island and the excitement of the upcoming wedding that was about to take place. . . . I absolutely loved this sweet story and look forward to reading the next book in the series to find out who will be the next bride on the Greek Island."

It’d been a long time since he’d danced.

And he was surprised to find he enjoyed holding Popi close.

Realizing he was enjoying it too much, Apollo guided them off to a quiet corner of the dance floor. His intent was to have a serious conversation with her, but this close contact was detrimental to his thought process.

He drew in a deep breath, but it did nothing to cool his heated blood. There was something about this woman that got past his practiced defenses. And right now, talking was the last thing on his mind.

"Despite those choices where the story continues to play out between two people who are in the height of a fierce custody battle there is also a slow burning romance playing out in the background. . . . Theirs was an interesting romance and I had a feeling Faye was going to continue the legacy of how this Greek island brings unsuspecting people together at a point in their lives where they aren't entirely ready to commit to a relationship much less consider a marriage! Sometimes life is like that though - you find yourself caught up in the tides of fate and despite your best intentions, things really do work out the way they were always meant to even if the timing of it all is not your own choosing."

Hallie Reads - Review

"A story of grief, trust, letting go, and some good, fun romance, Claiming the Drakos Heir is definitely an enjoyable read. I loved seeing the drama between Popi and Apollo in these unique circumstances, proving perfect for any reader in need of a quick contemporary romance."

Kissing her had been a mistake. Apollo didn’t know if he was going to be able to talk to her—to look at her—without recalling that earth-moving kiss. And he couldn’t afford to be distracted. There was too much at stake.

He stepped away. “That shouldn’t have happened.”

Popi’s gaze darkened. “The song has ended. Now I want answers. Who are you?”

“Do you really not recognize me?”

“No.” She studied his face. “Why should I know you? Are you famous?”

"I did enjoy the story of Popi and Apollo. Both were determined to care for the baby. I loved how Apollo took to Fatherhood."

The Heart of A Vicar Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Friday, June 7, 2019

Young love is all too fleeting, as Harold Jonquil painfully discovered years ago when Sarah Sarvol, the niece of a neighboring landowner, captured his heart. After an idyllic few weeks in the throes of blossoming love, reality intervened. They could have no future. Following their disastrous parting, Harold attempted to push aside thoughts of love and regret, but Sarah has never left his heart. Now, years later, he has achieved his lifelong aspiration of becoming the local vicar. However, the role proves more difficult than he imagined. He feels hollow and uninspired -- until the most important person in his past returns, challenging him as no one ever has.

When Sarah's ailing uncle summons her back to the family estate in England, there iso only one person from her past she is reluctant to see again: Harold Jonquil, the only man who has ever claimed her heart. But when she comes face-to-face with her former beau, she hardly recognizes the aloof and dull man before her. She is determined to help Harold rediscover the passion he once felt toward his chosen profession. Soon, despite their exasperation with each other, they cannot deny the stirring of feelings long buried-- but is it too late for second chances?

Sarah Eden created a fictional family called the Jonquils with seven sons and an honorary son. Each son has/or will have a novel telling the story of how they met their spouse. Each story also references what is going on in the lives of the other brothers and build on each other. She also created a second family for regency romance readers called the Lancasters. The last Lancaster book, Loving Lieutenant Lancaster, sets place at the Jonquil home and some of the plot elements from that story carry over into The Heart of a VicarThe Heart of a Vicar tells the story of Harold and is the seventh book in the Jonquil series. Here are the books that are part of the Jonquil family's story:
Here are the books of the Lancaster series:
I've read Eden's other books in the series (some several times over) and Harold is usually portrayed as a tightly wound vicar that has trouble interacting socially. The Heart of a Vicar really shows a different side of Harold and how lost he feels within his role as a vicar. Sarah inspires him to be himself and to figure out what he wants in life. I liked Harold better after reading his story and understood him a bit better. In the other novels, he comes out a bit pompous and socially awkward. I usually cringe a little when he interacts with his brothers. It was interesting to see the reasons behind his behavior and get to know his character better. I loved getting to know his hobbies. It really made his character more interesting and dynamic. He's now one of my favorites. I was annoyed at times with Sarah for pushing Harold too hard to change, but I knew what Harold was going through as a reader and she didn't. The Heart of a Vicar also revisits several of the other characters from Sarah Eden's books. If you read them out of order, it would ruin the twists and suspense leading up to this story. I've been anticipating this book for a while and I wasn't disappointed. I can't wait to read the next book in the series! I know it'll be at least a year before the next one comes out, but I can't wait! If you haven't read about the Jonquils and you enjoy romance, I would very highly suggest reading these books. I own most of the series and reread them almost yearly. To learn more about The Heart of a Vicar, click here.

I would also suggest following Sarah Eden on social media. Sometimes, she does giveaways for her books and gives "slight" hints at what is to come. Her Facebook page is here and her Instagram is here.

The Trial of Porter Rockwell Review and Giveaway

Wednesday, June 5, 2019

Choosing the perfect gift for Dad can be tough! Does your dad love history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Does your dad enjoy legal dramas? Your dad might enjoy the new movie, The Trial of Porter Rockwell. Check out the preview here.

Movie Synopsis:
When former Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs is shot by an unknown assailant, rumors quickly spread that the Mormons are responsible for the attempted assassination of the controversial politician. Never a friend of the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Boggs had four years earlier issued the infamous extermination order that pronounced, "Mormons must be treated as enemies, and must be exterminated or driven from the State."

Rumors gain new momentum when recently excommunicated member John C. Bennett implicates the Prophet Joseph Smith and Porter Rockwell in the crime. Though these accusations are vehemently denied by Joseph and his supporters, arrest warrants are issued for the Prophet and his protector. Joseph's warrant is dismissed; however, Porter Rockwell, not yet thirty, is arrested.

After spending nine months in jail, Porter is finally brought to court for a grand-jury hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to indict him—a hurdle the state of Missouri must clear to proceed with a full criminal trial. This taut courtroom drama brings to life the friendship of Joseph and Porter and the original story behind the larger-than-life, legendary Porter Rockwell.

Review:
I recently read about the assassination attempt of Governor Boggs from the book, Saints: The Standard of Truth and how Porter Rockwell was blamed for the attempt. It was interesting to see the trial portrayed in this movie and to learn more about Rockwell. The beginning of the movie was a little dark for younger audiences. The content also might be confusing for younger audiences. I think this movie would be best for adults and/or families with teens. To learn more about The Trial of Porter Rockwell, click here.

Review

Robin is determined to have the perfect summer and capture the attention of Caleb. She plans to stay at her family's lake house even though her mother rented it out. Her determination and forcefulness makes her a little hard to like at first. She seems more concerned about her needs without realizing how much she's infringing on the tenant's privacy.

Gradually, her character becomes more likable and I was cheering for her to realize that she should be shifting her attention away from Caleb to Matt. Matt's emotional state seems a bit overdone at first. I think it's a decent "beach" or "summer" read. To learn more about Refuge at Pine Lake, click here.
