ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Owner Entrepreneur, first-generation American, writer, and mother to four children. Maria Castellucci Moore strives to bring passion and enthusiasm to all her endeavors. A lover of all things European, María has found great passion through her travels to Paris, Italy, Spain, and South America. Her affection for winemaking, foreign languages, the arts, ballroom dancing, and traveling has given María a unique and grateful perspective on life. Her love for her family and helping others through charitable giving has enabled María to thoughtfully curate purposeful life adventures.

María Castellucci Moore earned her bachelor of arts degree in finance from Dominican University on a tennis scholarship, and later pursued studying at New York University and the London School of Economics with a focus on global affairs. In 2016, with her siblings, Maria founded Castellucci Napa Family, a luxury wine and real estate brand. María runs her wine label and a family real estate development company in the greater Bay Area. She is a board member of the San Francisco Opera Guild and is enthusiastic about building opportunity and community through the arts.

María resides in Saint Helena, California, with her husband and four young children. She enjoys writing; traveling; attending the opera, ballet, and symphony; flower arranging; winemaking; ballroom dancing; and playing tennis and the piano.

Life Is What It's Called - What inspired Vivienne in Paris?

Maria Castellucci Moore - Vivienne in Paris was inspired by my own self discovery journey later into adulthood and how the discovery of happiness was an authentic and unique experience, unlike what is portrayed in the media these days.

Life Is What It's Called - Why did you choose the setting in Paris?

Maria Castellucci Moore - Paris was the chosen city because that is where I found such awe and wonder over a trip to Paris where I got engaged! While my experience in Paris was unparalleled for that reason, I too found the city to be a delight in my ability to utilize my 5 senses to explore and create wonder.

Life Is What It's Called - How did your travel inspire this book?

Maria Castellucci Moore - The sights, sounds, smells of Paris made it the perfect venue for my book.

Maria Castellucci Moore - I hope readers will take away that finding your unique joy is a personal experience and if you pause and become greater aware of the immediate world around you, you can experience life in a new light.

Maria Castellucci Moore - Mindfulness enables a person to delve deeper and create a deeper relationship with themselves and the surrounding world, which then translates into their unique joy.

Maria Castellucci Moore - I feel it is an important lesson for readers to take away from this book that we don’t have to wait to be given the big material gifts or the grand vacation, its your immediate surroundings that if you have a new perspective can bring you new and authentic joy.

Life Is What It's Called - Are you similar to the main character in the book?


Maria Castellucci Moore - Yes, Vivienne emulates me in that my favorite things in the world are flowers and travel and engaging with my family in meaningful conversations. I would say Vivienne and I are very similar!

Life Is What It's Called - Will you write more books about different places around the world?

Maria Castellucci Moore - I plan on writing a story for each one of my four children set in a different city around the world.

Life Is What It's Called - What should readers know about you as an author?

Maria Castellucci Moore - My readers should know that I love to travel, I am a mother of 4 children who inspire me everyday to look at the world with fresh eyes.
