Review - Perfect length and entertaining read, Commander of His Heart by Arlem Hawks is a book worth reading. Commander of His Heart spins a different take than most books with a female taking on a male's job. The author, Arlem Hawks, didn't disguise Marah by putting her in male clothing. Marah wore her dresses with pants and demonstrated that she could perform a man's job on a ship while still maintaining her identity. I liked that the character was able to maintain her identity. In many pieces of literature, identities are hidden when women take on male jobs or activities in society. The openness of her identity and The romance was sweet and easy to read.
