GetOutPass Idaho with Ceramica

Friday, May 24, 2019

We ventured with our GetOutPass Idaho to Ceramica in Boise. Ceramica is a paint-your-own-pottery studio. You get to choose from many different colors and paint a design on a piece of pottery. With the GetOutPass Idaho, you get to paint a 12 oz mug and you paint a piece of pottery quarterly.

I took my kids to Ceramica to paint a mug. My 3-year-old daughter painted her mug in several different paints. At first she painted it into a cool marbled design, but then she painted over her design with a steel gray color. My 5-year-old-son painted a mug with Star Wars characters. I painted a solid speckled yellow color on my mug and then a white speckled color on the inside. I didn't take a lot of time on my mug since I tried to help my kids by getting more paint and making sure that their mug was thoroughly covered in paint.

The employees at Ceramica were extremely nice and helpful. They gave me a highchair so that my baby could observe us painting. They explained the process and what we needed to do. It was a good experience. With the GetOutPass Idaho, we can go once a month! The mugs will make great additions to our own dishes or we can create gifts for grandparents, uncles, aunts, teachers, etc.

The more we use the GetOutPass Idaho, the more I realize how great it is. We get access to so many things that normally we wouldn't go to. My family get to experience different things and have fun. It gets us out of the house and away from our same old "go-to" activities. I think its good to try something different.

GetOutPass Idaho is normally $99.95 per person. By using the special discount code,“IDAHO40," you can get $40 off the cost per person making the passes $59.95. With access to the following venues this pass can result in great savings and allows you to get out and do fun things at a low cost especially when compared to the normal admission prices. A Proper Scandal Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

Grace Sinclair has been callously cast out of her home. And though taken in as an orphaned child by the vicar and his wife, her unsurpassed beauty makes it impossible for her to remain in the vicar's household with two daughters of their own about to enter Society, the vicar and his wife see Grace as nothing but competition. Thankfully, Grace's estranged Aunt Bell has agreed to take her in to her home in London. But Grace soon learns her situation has just gotten much worse. It takes only a moment's acquaintance for Grace to ascertain that her aunt has married a detestable rake. And Aunt Bell, recognizing the danger of having her lovely niece too near her husband, gives Grace an ultimatum: the young woman has two weeks to find a man to marry, after which she will be turned out. With no experience in the art of attracting a husband, Grace quickly realizes that a worthy suitor might not be so easy to ensnare.

A Proper Scandal was a fun and enjoyable book to read. I loved reading how Grace tries to ensnare a husband. Grace and the male protagonist were hilarious. I liked reading their reactions to each other and the situations they found themselves in. The writing was very "fresh," well-planned and well-managed. It was really well-written. It was easy to imagine the scenes and characters. All of the characters had personality and stood out. The villains were spoiled, selfish and had no regard for propriety. They truly were villains and felt that they could do as they pleased. I was actively cheering against them. It wasn't the typical romance. Grace was thrown into very bad situations and she tried her best to get out of it unscathed and find a solution that worked best for her. The humor in the book and how the plot moved really makes the book stand out. I look forward to reading more by Esther Hatch. To learn more about A Proper Scandal, click here.

GetOutPass Idaho with Planet Kid

Friday, May 17, 2019

We used our GetOutPass to go to Planet Kid at the Wing Center. Planet Kid is a huge indoor
playground located off of Cole Rd in Boise. The indoor playground has several slides, climbing areas, ball pits, big balls, tunnels, cargo nets and more. Planet Kid also had a "baby/toddler" area with a little ball pit, slides and gliding horses. We went on a weekday and it was really fun. It wasn't crowded at first, but then slowly more and more kids and moms/dads trickled in.

I think it would have been better if we had invited friends to join us. My son (age 5) is more adventurous then my daughter (age 3), so he ventured most of the time in the playground by himself. My daughter stuck to a smaller section of the playground that she felt comfortable exploring. There was an area for kids 2 and under that I stayed at, most of the time, with my baby (8 months). With friends, I think my kids would have been more enthusiastic about playing and I would have had someone to chat with in the baby area besides my baby.

It was easy to watch kids as they played. Most parts of the playground are pretty visible. My son (age 5) and daughter (age 3) said that they had a lot of fun and asked when they could go again. We stayed for an hour. As we were leaving, it started to rain and I was glad that we were able to get some energy out before going home.

I am really enjoying the GetOutPass for Idaho. It gives us a chance to get out of the house without feeling like we are wasting money and we get the chance to do something different. I also don't feel guilty for only spending an hour there. We can easily go again next quarter. This was our first time going to Planet Kid. I've heard about it from other moms, but it always seemed too expensive to go for just an hour or two. I don't really like spending the whole day out with kids. It makes it hard to juggle naps, household chores and meals. I think my kids would get bored if we did the same activities and outings all the time and this gives us a chance to branch out and experience different things. (Check out our post a few weeks ago on going to JumpTime Boise, by clicking here.)

With the GetOutPass Idaho, we can go to Planet Kid quarterly. The prices without the pass for Plant Kid are $9 for kids 4-12 and $6 for kids 1-3 years old. If we were to go without the pass four times for a year, it would cost $60. The GetOutPass is normally $99.95 per person. By using the special discount code,“IDAHO40," you can get $40 off the cost per person making the passes $59.95. With access to the following venues this pass can result in great savings and allows you to get out and do fun things at a low cost especially when compared to the normal admission prices. Charlotte's Promise Blog Tour, Review and Giveaway

Wednesday, May 8, 2019

One year ago Charlotte Bower’s life was ripped apart when Creek Indians attacked, killed her parents, and separated her from her young brother—now, she will stop at nothing to find him. After a year of captivity, she has finally made her escape. Her search will begin in New Orleans, where captives were taken after the raid. But how to reach a city hundreds of miles away? As she watches men boarding a waiting ship, Charlotte formulates a bold plan: if it’s men they need for the ship’s crew, it’s a man they’ll get. Taking on her childhood nickname, Charlie, it is all too easy to gain passage on the New Orleans-bound vessel. Easy, that is, until Charlie is caught . . .

From the moment he sets eyes on the new deckhand, Captain Alden Thatcher knows one thing for certain: Charlie Bower is no man. But for reasons of his own, he keeps her secret. As their journey progresses, however, the voyage is increasingly ill-fated. With danger ever present, Charlie and the captain find themselves relying on one another in ways they’d never imagined. As they draw closer to her goal, Charlotte is faced with the most perilous adventure of all—an adventure that may risk her heart.

As soon as Captain Alden Thatcher, meets Charlie he knows she's disguised as a man. Most literature allows for women to completely be disguised as a man with the men none the wiser, however I think Charlotte's Promise is a more realistic approach. It's hard to believe that femininity can completely disappear even with a disguise as frequently as it's mentioned in literature. I enjoyed reading about Charlotte, Captain Thatcher and their shipmates. The characters were interesting and it was easy to get wrapped up in their world. I also liked the backdrop of the War of 1812. It was interesting to get a glimpse into the time period and learn more about human slavery from battles. The battle scenes were interesting and it was interesting to read Moore's take on it. I also enjoy reading about the workings of the ship. It was very interesting and you can tell that the book was well researched. The romance was gradual and at parts felt a little rushed. Overall, it was an enjoyable story. This book would be an excellent mother's day gift! Some of the characters mentioned in this story also have their own books - The Shipbuilder's Wife and My Dearest Enemy.
