Aquarium of Boise with GetOutPass Idaho

We went to the Aquarium of Boise with out GetOutPass Idaho. With the GetOutPass, you can go to the aquarium bi-annually and it is only valid Monday-Thursday, with blackout dates on the weekend, summer (May-July), Thanksgiving and Christmas. My kids loved watching the fish swim and putting their hands in the water of the tanks that allowed the kids to be interactive. We noticed a little girl that had kept her hands very still in one of the tanks. The little girl had several fish sucking on her skin. My daughter tried to follow her example, but every time a fish came near her she jerked her hand her fast. My littlest one (11 months) was fascinated by the fish swimming. He enjoyed seeing the brightly colored fish dart around in the water. My oldest son (age 5) was a little grumpy about going to the aquarium, but his attitude quickly changed when we got there and he enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits. This is a perfect activity for young kids, families, teens, etc.

Miniature Golf at Urban Adventure Air Park with GetOutPass Idaho

We only did the miniature golf since my kids are a little young to play laser tag. The miniature golf was fun. It was in a jungle theme with black lights. My 3-year old struggled with miniature golf and resorted to hitting my ball after I hit it or rolling the ball. My 5-year old played really well, but I think he might have had more fun with friends rather than with mom and sister. GetOutPass Idaho with JumpTime Meridian

We utilized our GetOutPass Idaho at Jump Time in Meridian, Idaho. I was a little nervous about going to JumpTime in Meridian. We went last year and I had a rough time handling two kids who wanted to do different things while pregnant. This time it was less crowded and my kids were more comfortable exploring, going on the inflatables and the balance beams. With the GetOutPass you get 30 minutes of playtime at Jump Time. The inflatables are fun and I like doing it indoors at Jump Time rather than at an event. It's less crowded and crazy. The trampolines were also fun for my kids. They spent a lot of time on the balance beams. It was a fun time. They also have several chairs for parents to sit and watch. One of the workers asked me if the GetOutPass was worth it and I told him it was. You get to do so many activities and explore different venues around Idaho. I like the variety and how we get to do new and different things.

Summer Fun with Urban Air Adventure Park

Are you looking for summer fun activities for the whole family? You should check out Urban Air Adventure Park in Meridian, Idaho. We went there as a family and my 5-year old son said it was "blazing fun" and "The best time I've ever had." My 3-year old daughter said, "The trampolines where fun." My husband and I enjoyed it as well. There were so many fun activities to do there! Attractions include:

Everyone ran, jump, laughed, climbed and more. I liked that we were all able to be active and entertained at the same time.

Overall, it was a good experience. I would suggest reviewing the website before going and planning out your activities in advance. Some of our time when we got there was wasted figuring out what we wanted to experience first. My kids had their favorites and wanted to do those over and over again. GetOutPass Idaho with Ceramica

We ventured with our GetOutPass Idaho to Ceramica in Boise. Ceramica is a paint-your-own-pottery studio. You get to choose from many different colors and paint a design on a piece of pottery. With the GetOutPass Idaho, you get to paint a 12 oz mug and you paint a piece of pottery quarterly.

I took my kids to Ceramica to paint a mug. My 3-year-old daughter painted her mug in several different paints. At first she painted it into a cool marbled design, but then she painted over her design with a steel gray color. My 5-year-old-son painted a mug with Star Wars characters. I painted a solid speckled yellow color on my mug and then a white speckled color on the inside. I didn't take a lot of time on my mug since I tried to help my kids by getting more paint and making sure that their mug was thoroughly covered in paint.

The employees at Ceramica were extremely nice and helpful. They gave me a highchair so that my baby could observe us painting. They explained the process and what we needed to do. It was a good experience. With the GetOutPass Idaho, we can go once a month! The mugs will make great additions to our own dishes or we can create gifts for grandparents, uncles, aunts, teachers, etc.

The more we use the GetOutPass Idaho, the more I realize how great it is. We get access to so many things that normally we wouldn't go to. My family get to experience different things and have fun. It gets us out of the house and away from our same old "go-to" activities. I think its good to try something different.

GetOutPass Idaho with Planet Kid

We used our GetOutPass to go to Planet Kid at the Wing Center. Planet Kid is a huge indoor
playground located off of Cole Rd in Boise. The indoor playground has several slides, climbing areas, ball pits, big balls, tunnels, cargo nets and more. Planet Kid also had a "baby/toddler" area with a little ball pit, slides and gliding horses. We went on a weekday and it was really fun. It wasn't crowded at first, but then slowly more and more kids and moms/dads trickled in.

I think it would have been better if we had invited friends to join us. My son (age 5) is more adventurous then my daughter (age 3), so he ventured most of the time in the playground by himself. My daughter stuck to a smaller section of the playground that she felt comfortable exploring. There was an area for kids 2 and under that I stayed at, most of the time, with my baby (8 months). With friends, I think my kids would have been more enthusiastic about playing and I would have had someone to chat with in the baby area besides my baby.


It was easy to watch kids as they played. Most parts of the playground are pretty visible. My son (age 5) and daughter (age 3) said that they had a lot of fun and asked when they could go again. We stayed for an hour. As we were leaving, it started to rain and I was glad that we were able to get some energy out before going home.

I am really enjoying the GetOutPass for Idaho. It gives us a chance to get out of the house without feeling like we are wasting money and we get the chance to do something different. I also don't feel guilty for only spending an hour there. We can easily go again next quarter. This was our first time going to Planet Kid. I've heard about it from other moms, but it always seemed too expensive to go for just an hour or two. I don't really like spending the whole day out with kids. It makes it hard to juggle naps, household chores and meals. I think my kids would get bored if we did the same activities and outings all the time and this gives us a chance to branch out and experience different things. City of Boise Seeks Input on Compost

The City of Boise seeks input from its citizens on a curb-side compost pick-up program. The city council approved it and now the city is holding three open houses for citizens to provide feedback and ask questions.

The open houses will be held at the following locations and times:

• Tuesday, Nov. 22, 6-7 p.m. at the Library! at Cole & Ustick (7557 W. Ustick Rd.)
• Tuesday, Nov. 29, 6-7 p.m. at the Library! at Collister (4724 W. State St.)
• Thursday, Dec. 1, 6-7 p.m. at the Library! at Hillcrest (5246 W. Overland Rd.)

If you are unable to attend the open houses, you can still provide feedback by taking the city’s online survey. The online survey will be open until December 1, 2016. Along with the three open houses and online survey, the City of Boise is planning on meeting with neighborhood associations across the city to for additional feedback.
