Don't let Christmas shopping break your wallet! Shopping shouldn't be economically damaging to
your household. Smart shop during the holidays by utilizing these tips:

1. Make a list of what you need to get - If you have a list than your less likely to buy extra things that you don't really need just because they're on sale.

2. Capitalize on Rewards or Bonuses - If you're buying gift cards for Christmas, capitalize on rewards or bonuses. Some grocery stores will have rewards or bonus points for gas or food coupons and sometimes restaurants and stores will have a bonus for purchasing at their location.

3. Don't Spend on Gifts Based on an Amount - A lot of people think that they need to spend a limit on each child or each family member and will keep adding on purchases to reach that amount. Have a limit for a thoughtful gift, but if you're below the limit don't buy anything more.

4. Use Ebates or Ibotta - If you're shopping online, use Ebates or Ibotta to get money back from your purchases. It doesn't cost anything to use and you can save money through the holidays just by utilizing these services. (Please note that the links are referral links.)

5. Know Price Points - Don't take a store, blogger, or advertiser's word that the price they're advertising is the best on an item. Do your own research and comparisons!

What are some of your tips?
